Street party in Rocheport!

We are working with the city of Rocheport to throw the craziest street party this river town has ever had!

LIVE MUSIC
The Sand Fleas will be playing from 11:00 to 1:30, with a break from 12:30-1 for awards.

The Sand Fleas will bite you anywhere you like to boogie. They mix up funk, R&B and rock n’ roll into something they call freaky tiki boogie. The line up includes; Happy Joe Aguirre on drums, Jeff ÓThe LipÔ Kniep on harmonica, Shakey John Robinson on Piano, Timbo ÓShineÔ Overshiner on Bass, and Ukulele Steve on electric guitar. You don’t need a beach towel, but be sure to bring your booty shaker.

LUNCH MENU - catered by Rocheport General Store
vegan chili and big red chili- both served over pasta (with the pasta it is yummy, and known as Cincinati chili) * tex-mex cumin bread * choice of cookie or peach cobbler

COSTUME CONTEST
The costume contest at will take place at the Rocheport General Store at 12:30 pm. Wear your Halloween best and win a prize!

BIKE PARADE AROUND ROCHEPORT
The closing ceremony of the Rocheport street party is the inaugural MidMo BRR bike parade around town and onto the trail for the return ride to Columbia!

POST-RIDE PARTY AT MOJO'S (view map to location)
If you win a costume prize or trophy you can pick it up at Mojo's. There will be celebration, beverages, and Shakespeare's pizza there, so keep the party going!

GOOD RIDING
The ride is 17-miles each way (34 total) from downtown Columbia ("The District") to Rocheport along the scenic MKT and Katy Trail. Along the way, experience beautiful bluffs, fall colors, and the Missouri River.

GOOD EATING
The good eating begins with a pre-ride breakfast hosted by B & B Bagels at Flat Branch Park from 9-10 AM. In Rocheport, a delicious lunch will be catered by the Rocheport General Store.

GOOD FUN
Discover the treasures of Rocheport with a scavenger hunt.
As part of your goodie bag at check in, you will receive a map to the hidden jewels of this unique river town. An optional side trip to Rocheport's blufftop Les Bourgeois Winery will take some extra effort, but it will be worth the climb! Les Bourgeois will have some special surprises for anyone who makes the trip up to the A-Frame. Upon returning to The District in Columbia, enjoy free entertainment for BRR Riders!

Missouri Children's Hospital
Charity Event: MidMoBRR
Amount raised: $6500 (past BRR rides and Ironman Arizona)

Each year, thousands of children in the United States are diagnosed with diabetes. At the Children’s Hospital at University Hospital and Clinics, the pediatric diabetes team assists children throughout Missouri and surrounding states who have been diagnosed with diabetes by teaching them and their families how to successfully manage their disease.

The Pediatric Diabetes Program at Mizzou Children’s Hospital remains one of the nationwide leaders in providing quality care to children with diabetes. Its renowned reputation is founded upon decades of research and landmark discoveries in the area of pediatric diabetes, led by Dr. Robert L. Jackson and Dr. David Goldstein, who are both well-known leaders in the field.

The education and care offered by the Pediatric Diabetes Program to children and their families is an invaluable resource to those in Columbia and across the country.

What kind of bike should I ride on the BRR Ride?
You can ride virtually any bike on the Katy Trail. We recommend a mountain, hybrid, or cyclocross bike. We have personally ridden the entire trail on road bikes, but you might not want to ride with expensive racing tires. Just switch the tires out for the all-weather tires you'll be riding with in the winter anyway.
Back to FAQ

What food will be served on the BRR Ride?
Pre-ride bagels and coffee will be provided by B & B Bagels of Columbia.  In Rocheport you will receive a delicious lunch catered by the Rocheport General Store. If you prefer to "whet your whistle" you might want to stop at one of the sponsors on the Rocheport Scavenger Hunt.  There will be a post-ride party at Mojos where you will get appetizer-sized slices of Shakespeare's Pizza. To really fill a BIG appetite, bring a little extra cash so you can explore Rocheport and the District in Columbia.
Back to FAQ

How long will the ride take?
The total ride distance will be 34 miles, or 36 if you take the extra side trip to Les Bourgeois A-Frame.  Check-in/Registration is from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, so you can leave anytime after you are checked in.  After lunch and the scavenger hunt in Rocheport, come back as quickly or slowly as you want.  It is our hope that you will take your time and make an enjoyable day out of exploring Rocheport, the Katy Trail, and the Columbia District.
Back to FAQ

Where does the money go from this ride?
All proceeds from this ride go to the Mizzou Pediatric Diabetes program.
Back to FAQ

I want to bring my kids. How much does it cost to register them?
Children's registration is $5.
Back to FAQ

What will the weather be like that day?
We have consulted our crystal ball and it says sunny and 70 degrees.
Back to FAQ

How do I register a team?
Contact Steve Taylor at 573.268.3269 to set up a team. Discounts are available if the team registers together. We especially encourage teams from other towns to organize for transportation and "team spirit." We are especially looking for teams that have a bus, so if that is your team, please contact us immediately.
Back to FAQ

What is the deal with the Costume Contest?
The BRR Ride takes place four days after Halloween, so wear your holiday best! There have been some extremely creative costumes!
